In the fall of 2023, we began weekly tutoring for 3rd-12th grade students at scout hall. We have retired teachers working with the students to help with homework and projects.
In March, 2022 BICS awarded its first annual tuition scholarship to an accredited 2 or 4 year college, university or trade school. In 2023 two scholarships were awarded to seniors heading to colleges. Applications for this scholarship can be submitted starting in January of each year and a re due by March 1. Students must have been full-time residents of Bethel Island for a minimum of one year to apply. Application form and detailed requirements can be found here.
In 2021 BICS began awarding new laptops to college-bound high-school seniors. Applications can be submitted and are reviewed year-round. The application form and list of requirements for this program is available here. For more information contact us at info@bethelislandchildren.org
In July 2016 we started our first annual giveaway of backpacks filled with school supplies to all Bethel Island school-aged children. With the help of the faculty from local schools, the backpacks are filled with essential materials for each age group.
